9th May 2002 - Students Not Going to School

Recently, the SA1s have started for pupils of many primary and secondary schools. However, many pupils have not been reporting to schools and are staying at home instead. Yes, the exam fever is back. And it is back with a vengeance. Last year, there was a reported 200 pupils not going to school. This year, the number has risen 2-fold to 403 pupils not going to school. The virus strand has been said to have mutated after the one year period. It is said to be more deadly and can spread faster, most commonly through books. People suffering from the disease will have a runny nose, backed by the crave to read books upside down and even in bed. However, it is the change in attitude of the pupils that makes them not go to school. Students will suddenly become nerds and will bury their heads in their books 24/7. Doctors have advised the general population to be wary of this virus as it can also affect adults who are studying for courses like the MBA. The virus takes about 3 days to cure and anybody showing symptoms of it should consult the nearest doctor immediately.
